Diversity and Inclusion

In concert with both the University of Tennessee Vol Vision Strategic Plan and the CEHHS Strategic Plan, the faculty and staff of the David T. Bailey Graduate School of Education (GSE) recognize diversity and inclusion as a critical priority in the development of socially aware professional educators. In order to compete in educational settings that are being transformed by shifting demographics, new technologies, and a rapidly evolving global economy, the GSE faculty accepts the obligation and critical need for intentional initiatives focused on diversity and inclusion. We strive to provide a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment to strengthen our academic programs in education and our engagement with the campus, community, and society. We seek to increase the number of students, faculty, and staff from diverse cultures and backgrounds in the David T. Bailey Graduate School of Education. We understand our role in meeting the need for an increasingly diverse and knowledgeable education workforce to serve the ever-expanding diversity of children and families seen in public schools today. We accept the obligation to provide an educational experience that supports educators in learning to appreciate and work within multicultural environments.
