UT Counselor Education Doctoral Student Team Wins Second Place in ACA Annual Ethics Case Study Competition

 Each year, the American Counseling Association (ACA) invites teams of master’s and doctoral students to participate in its annual Ethics Case Study competition. The purpose of the competition is to educate members of the association regarding ethical issues and to engage graduate students (master’s and doctoral level) in critically analyzing a potential ethical case and creating an appropriate decision making plan to respond to the ethical situation. The UT CE Doctoral team finished second in this competition. Members of the 2013 team were:

Their names will be published in Counseling Today and they will receive official recognition at the ACA awards ceremony in Cincinnati, Ohio. They will also be invited to attend the annual Ethics Committee breakfast sponsored by ACA.

Monica Mobley, a doctoral student in science education within TPTE, received the Best Graduate Student Position paper at the 2012 Southeastern Association for Science Teacher Educators (SASTE) held in October 2012 in Macon, Georgia. Mobley’s presentation was entitled A Culture of Science for All:  Cultural Communities as Educational Support Groups.
